One of the newest products we’ve added to our CFG Direct store is the Clad Cases carbon fiber iPhone 3G case.  The demand for a pure carbon fiber iPhone case is extremely high, and when we first got our hands on this, we were thoroughly impressed with the weave.  It’s hard to explain, so you should just take a look:

It’s unlike anything we’ve seen so far, the only thing I’ve seen in person as impressive is the Purisme letter opener we wrote about (which I may add costs around $400).  The moment we saw it, we had to start selling it because we wanted to offer it to you guys.  It turns out that Clad Cases, a company we’ve partnered with, uses the same exact carbon fiber material that companies like Ferrari and Airbus use.  You know you can’t go wrong if Ferrari is using the same material.

The case also happens to be the lightest carbon fiber iPhone case on the market, weighing in at just 8.5 grams.  How is it so light?  Well the use of carbon fiber material is the biggy, but it’s also only .045″ (1.143mm) thick…or should I say thin.  It’s also extremely light because of the design used for the case.  As you can see in the pictures, the case does not cover the front of the phone (we recommend getting a clear screen protector in conjunction with this case), instead covers up to the chrome surround.

That will of course be a downside to some, but for others who want to appreciate the beautiful weave, craftsmanship, innovative design, and weight/dimensions, the case is perfect.  I’ll be honest, when I first got the case in my hands, I didn’t think it was something that would fit onto the iPhone securely.  I was wrong, the case simply pops onto the back of the phone, and stays on securely.  I wouldn’t throw the phone around or anything, but I was easily able to shake the phone around while holding it from the case, and it stayed on just fine (see video at the end of this post).  It secures itself by the corners, which help to clamp onto the phone.

The design allows for all functionality of the phone to remain in-tact.  There is a cutout on the back for the camera, and slots for all of the buttons on the sides, top, and bottom.  The designers of the product are engineers with experience in the aerospace, military, and government fields.  They’ve worked on some really cool stuff, and you can only expect the absolute top quality workmanship on their products.
