Magna and Zoltek jointly introduce low-cost carbon fiber SMC
Zoltek (St. Louis, Mo.) and Paris, France-based Magna International’s Magna Exteriors and Interiors operating unit developed the new SMC in part for a recently won semistructural composite component contract.
Aachen University center will focus on production of lightweight structures
The Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL) in Aachen, Germany, will research materials and processes for high-volume manufacturing serving the oil and gas, water, infrastructure, construction and automotive end markets.
Domtar inaugurates commercial lignin production
The Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based firm’s recently installed commercial-scale plant for lignin production, in Plymouth, N.C., will target industrial uses that could include precursor for carbon fiber production.
Management changes at SGL
Dr. Jürgen Köhler will become a full member of the company’s Board of Management, replacing Theodore Breyer, effective June 1. In addition, shareholder Susanne Klatten will become head of the company’s Supervisory Board.
Premier Composite Technologies expands into rail with new contracts
