When I think of Lamborghini now, the words that come to mind are powerful, sleek, stealthy and fast. Lamborghini is making it a top priority to get you to start adding “lightweight” to that list. We’ve covered a variety of different things they’ve done to start going in that direction from a slick video to a research center dedicated to carbon fiber. The latest push is a new concept that was revealed at last weeks Paris Motor Show in which Lamborghini released a series of teaser pictures that feature a ton of carbon fiber. Now that Lamborghini has shown the Sesto Elemento concept, we’d like to introduce it to our carbon fiber enthusiasts.
As I just mentioned above, the concept has the name “Sesto Elemento”. The english translation to this is “Sixth Element,” which Lamborghini implies is carbon fiber. This concept is meant to show off some of the company’s latest technologies in carbon fiber work. Lets start off with a couple pictures of the all-carbon fiber bodied supercar:
While the above pictures of the car may look like a matte grey, it’s actually all carbon fiber.
As you can see, there is a ton of carbon fiber, enough so that the entire car only weighs 2,202 lbs. You will find the material on all body panels, front frame, monocoque, major suspension components and wheels.
While originally thought to be a potential Murcielago replacement, we found that the car actually has a 570-hp V10, possibly making it the next Gallardo. Lamborghini claims the concept is capable of 100 km/hr in just 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 186mph.
