This may not be the most functional axe I’ve ever seen, its certainly has an edge (insert rimshot here). But seriously, this carbon fiber axe is super bad ass regardless of its power.
Dubbed the Carbo Axe, the people at Blue Ant Studio designed the axe with the military’s explosive ordnance disposal aka the EOD. The axe is now just a prototype due to the high cost materials used but they have created five working tools for the US Air Marshall’s thus far.
A couple perks of using carbon fiber for an axe is the obvious, a lower weight, but it also doesn’t create a spark when it strikes against metal. The axe itself is made of a titanium core with a carbide-tungsten edge, sandwiched between two layers of carbon fiber and fastened with titanium hardware. And because of the axe’s light weight factor, they added a weight that fits around the opening of the blade in order to create more momentum.
So while the Carbo Axe may not be too much help trying to knock down a tree, it will definitely be able to rip through wires to take out bombs like no other. And Like I mentioned before, as of now this carbon fiber axe is only a prototype.
