At the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin finally revealed their new supercar, the One-77. While the “regular” Aston Martin’s such as the Vantage, Volante, and DB9 can already be considered supercars, the One-77 takes it to the next level…and then some.
Aston Martin took their 6.0-liter V12, and expanded it out to 7.3-liters, which happens to pump out over 700 horsepower. All of those ponies pushing the car allows it to have a top speed of over 200mph and a 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds. Only 77 units will be produced, and will have a price tag well north of $1 million.
The structural core of the One-77 is made from a lightweight and immensely rigid carbon fiber monocoque. This was developed at Aston Martin headquarters, and was built in partnership with Canadian carbon composite technology leader, Multimatic. Luckily, Aston Martin brought an open chassis to the show that allows us to see the exposed carbon fiber and gawk:
