It’s referred to as the Palmer Johnson “No-Compromises” Superyacht. And what makes it so super, is its 158-foot carbon fiber construction. Actually named the 48M SuperSport, this superyacht is hard to take your eyes off of.
“The idea was to design a next-generation Palmer Johnson super-yacht that freed itself from the conventional compromises that yacht design generally seems to accept,” said Timur Mohamed, the owner of the U.S. yacht brand.
Aiming high for “exponential transformations in operational performance and the on board experience,” Mohamed still wanted the 48M to be recognized as a Palmer Johnson. Mohamed teamed up with designer Berkeley March, who had previously designed a concept that seemed to please Mohameds needs and desires for this superyacht.
The superyacht was fully designed to be a faster and more comfortable boat than any other of its size, with a top speed of 32 Knots. In walks carbon fiber. Built entirely out of carbon fiber composites, increased speed will without a doubt be achieved. Using carbon fiber is actually quite rare for Palmer Johnson who typically utilizes aluminum.
“It’s easier to use carbon fiber on a yacht like this because you can mold it rather than cut it,” said Chris Wyeth who is the chief stylist on the yacht.
The 48M Superyacht is expected for a Fall 2013 delivery, with the first one already sold to an existing client of the company. It will be able to fit up to 12 passengers and nine crew members. A couple other features include a full beam owner cabin on the main deck, full height windows, a fold down balcony, sky lounges, plus a large sun deck. Talking about the 48M SuperSport really does it no justice, compared to the amazing pictures so be sure to check them all out.
