3M’s carbon fiber DI-NOC vinyl has been a popular solution that we’ve offered our customers that want to have the carbon fiber look without the high cost of using real carbon fiber. Real carbon fiber offers great advantages outside of looking great…there are some great weight to strength benefits, but depending on the application it may not be worth it to you to spend the high dollars in using the real stuff when all you want is the look. That’s where 3M’s carbon fiber DI-NOC comes into play, it’s the most realistic alternative with the best features (like the ease of use and the durability). I won’t get into all of the benefits, but we launched a site called CarbonFiberFilm.com dedicated to the material that you can read all about it, see customer installs, get tips for installs, find installers and more.
In the past we’ve only offered the carbon fiber vinyl in the black color (also known as CA-421), mainly because it was and will always be the most popular since it’s the one that actually resembles real carbon fiber. We’ve now expanded our offering into all 7 different colors that 3M makes carbon fiber DI-NOC in:
- CA-418 – Silver
- CA-419 – White
- CA-420 – Graphite/Gunmetal
- CA-421 – Black
- CA-422 – Light pewter
- CA-423 – Dark pewter
- CA-424 – Brown
You can see the colors below, and you can get an even better idea in the video we’ve made below the picture:
Since the material is still so newly available to the public, there aren’t many pictures out there of the different colors being used. As we get them, we’ll be sure to update our gallery and blog on Carbon Fiber Film.
It should be noted that the CA-419, CA-419, and CA-422 (silver/white/light pewter) don’t have the same outdoor durability testing from 3M as the other darker colors, and don’t have the same expected durability of 4 years. With that in mind, we haven’t heard any issues from customers yet, and for applications like show cars or garaged cars where they won’t be under the sun too much we don’t expect many issues.
We have written an extensive FAQ that should answer any questions you have about the material. You can read there here.
Samples of any of the colors can be ordered for just $8 shipped anywhere in the world. To see the full pricing and order material, be sure to check out CarbonFiberFilm.com.
