After a fun weekend of snowboarding, I thought it would only be right to post some sort of carbon fiber snow gear up. This time up we’ve got the Oakley A Frame carbon fiber snow goggles:

Oakley carbon fiber a-frame snow goggles

If you can’t notice from the picture, these are actually carbon fiber styled, and not real carbon fiber. They still look great, and the A Frames are a good snow goggle. Oakley developed a three-tier defense system against the coveted fog that we all hate on goggles. They have surge ports that control airflow, there is also a F-3 series anti-fog treatment, and a dual lens design that reduces fog by creating a thermal barrier of trapped air. All to keep your eyesight clear. The lens is available in 3 colors, VR28 (pinkish), black iridium (shown above), and persimmon (orangish). You can find the carbon fiber styled version of the A Frames on eBay for about $90-$100 shipped, here’s a list of the latest auctions for your reference:

  • I’ve seen a few new Oakley A frame goggles on Ebay that claim to be REAL carbon fiber!(Dec 2008) They do look VERY different from the painted on style. I’m trying to get my hands on an actual pair to see if they ARE real. Oakley website is useless!

  • Very good, if you find them, please let us know!

    Stopped by my ski shop….
Unfortunately they are still FAKE 🙁
Oakley merely changed their graphic design to better mimic a “true” carbon fiber weave. I guess thats why they call it “true” and NOT “REAL”. Pretty deceptive if you ask me! Especially when retail price is pushing $200!
They also offer this “true” finish on some sunglasses as well.

The seemingly painted on finish is poorly done and looks cheap. It doesnt even come close to the water transfers used by Benelli on their shotguns, which can actually fool you pretty well.
