Carbon fiber for the home. These items usually tend to be my favorite as they’re always so unique and most people would never imagine carbon fiber being used for a coffee table, or an office lamp, or in this case, a bookshelf.
Made from carbon fiber, the ‘Heavy Lightweight’ bookshelf by Bas Warmoeskerken, was produced in a limited edition of just 20 pieces. Warmoeskerken started his own independent design studio in Utrcht in 2005, concentrating on product and graphic design. Nowadays he works for a number of international design companies.
The “Heavy Lightweight” is a large bookshelf with 5 open shelves to store books and home decor. Due to its carbon fiber body, its remarkably lighter than most bulky bookshelves, making it much easier to move around when a room needs some spicing up. As I previously mentioned, they’re made in a limited special edition quantity of just 20 which are hand numbered and signed. Interested in your own? It will cost you…a lot as a matter of fact, just about $35,200 USD. Better start saving!
