Calling all swimmers, calling all swimmers, do we have a treat for you! Carbon fiber goggles have been in the works for almost two years, and are finally available for purchase. These new goggles, appropriately named ‘Carbon Race’ weigh a mere 27 grams. That’s sure to make a splash with Michael Phelps, or any competitive swimmer for that matter.
Blueseventy and Blue Fuzion Group have combined efforts to develop the first pair of swimming goggles to go against the norm of standard polycarbonate material, and instead use carbon fiber. The carbon fiber allows for a 22% weight reduction when compared to standard goggle, which equals faster swimming and more comfortable swimmers. We call that a win.
Blueseventy has been designing and distributing an array of swimming products for competitive swimmers since 1983.
Blue Fuzion Group spent the last two years extensively testing usable materials.
“Throughout the prototyping, swim testing, and production trials, the Teknor Apex polyamide consistently ranked as the leading choice,”
said Mr. McConnochie.
“Teknor Apex engineers worked closely with us in every step of the design and development process, helping us to meet the demanding challenge of achieving exceptional aquadynamics while saving weight.”
Similarly to all carbon fiber products, they are created for a high-end target audience. The ‘Carbon Race’ goggles are being sold for $100 a pair and can be bought from the Blueseventy website.
