Here is one way to light up the New Year, with a 73-inch carbon fiber lamp known as the Mite. The Mite was created to help Marc Sadler and Foscarini celebrate their ten-year collaboration anniversary.

Marc Sadler, the designer, and manufacturer Foscarnini have worked on numerous successful products together over the past 10 years. This includes similar lamps made solely of Kevlar/fiberglass and carbon fiber/fiberglass. Now they have taken all three materials and woven them into this 73-inch masterpiece.

Composed of Kevlar, carbon fiber and fiberglass, this delicate lamp takes only one 150-watt halogen light bulb to shine. The Mite also features a polished chrome base. And its diameter measures at 21cm.

Marc Sadler’s signature joins the Foscarini logo on the marking of the base to symbolize the story of this special partnership, a story told in a special paperback contained into the packaging.

The Mite is a special edition product available only in yellow and black, for around $1500 (depending on where you purchase from). I have a feeling these pictures do the lamp almost no justice to just how beautiful and ethnic looking the lamp would stand in a room.
